Outdoor recreation is amazing. Whether one is going hiking or biking, camping, or jeeping, there are so many wonderful sights to see in the outdoors, and a ton of ways to explore them. However, outdoor recreation can also be challenging, in both good and bad ways. If one isn’t careful or properly prepared, it can also be dangerous. One of the most important ways to stay safe and healthy while engaging in outdoor recreation is to make sure to cary, and drink, plenty of water. Doing this can not only keep one safe while participating in outdoor recreation, but can also contribute to overall health, as well as prevent accidents or injury.
It’s said that one should have at least a gallon of water per day, and that amount can increase if one is doing physical activity. So, even if it seems like too much, or even if one isn’t planning on being out long, having a lot of extra water is a good idea. Water helps to keep up one’s energy, and this is absolutely vital for any kind of outdoor recreation. By keeping one’s energy up, one is less prone to having accidents, can move more quickly, and can help avoid getting sick from things like dehydration or heatstroke. In the Moab area it can get very hot, especially in the summer, and having extra water can help to stave off the heat and keep one healthy.
So, before heading out jeeping or anything like that, make sure to bring plenty of water, in addition to safety gear. Having enough water not only makes outdoor recreation easier and more comfortable, but can – and does – actually save lives. Drink water, and stay safe out there!
