As the holiday season settles in, all of us at Canyonlands Jeep Adventures would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. This time of year in Moab often brings a slower pace, quieter trails, and a chance to catch our breath after a busy season. Yet this winter has surprised us.
Instead of snow and cold mornings, we are experiencing sunny days, warm temperatures, and conditions that feel more like fall than winter. While we know how important winter moisture is for the desert and hope it arrives soon, it has been hard not to appreciate just how incredible Moab looks right now. Clear skies, golden light, and empty trails remind us why this place is so special no matter the season.
Winter in Moab Is Different in the Best Way
The winter months in Moab offer something rare. Space. Silence. Time.
Without the crowds of spring and fall, the landscape feels bigger and more personal. Trails are quieter, viewpoints are uncrowded, and it becomes easier to slow down and truly take in the scenery. Even short drives into the backcountry can feel like a full reset.
This is the season when many visitors rediscover Moab in a new way. Not as a checklist of highlights, but as a place to reconnect with family, friends, and the natural world.
Iconic Drives That Never Get Old
No matter how many times you explore the Moab area, certain routes never lose their magic.
The views from the Shafer Trail are second to none. Watching the canyon open up below you as you descend into Canyonlands National Park is an experience that stays with you long after the drive is over. In winter, with lower sun angles and crisp air, the colors and shadows feel even more dramatic.
Onion Creek is another must do. Driving alongside the creek, crossing it multiple times, and winding through towering red rock walls feels almost unreal. It is one of those places that makes people stop talking, roll down the windows, and simply take it all in. No matter the season, Onion Creek has a way of reminding you why you came to Moab in the first place.
And the truth is, there is never just one area to choose. There is always another canyon, another overlook, another trail waiting to be explored. That is what keeps people coming back year after year.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With 2026 right around the corner, we hope this holiday season brings you time to slow down, unplug, and be present with the people who matter most. Travel does not always have to be far or complicated. Sometimes it is about finding a place that helps you reset and reconnect.
If Moab is on your list for the coming year, we would love to be part of your adventure. Whether it is your first visit or your tenth, there is always something new to discover here. Different light. Different weather. A different perspective.
Wishing You the Best in the Year Ahead
No matter where your travels take you in 2026, we hope it is a year filled with exploration, meaningful experiences, and time spent outdoors. The world is an incredible place, and there is so much value in getting out and seeing it for yourself.
From all of us at Canyonlands Jeep Adventures, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and best wishes for an amazing year ahead. We hope to see you in Moab soon.
